Stolen Smile
Ladies, have you ever wondered what your man’s doing when he’s not deliciously spooning you. Or gals, maybe you’ve asked yourself why there’s no more canoodling between you two. I know sometimes these thoughts have got to go through your lips and legs. Some of you have even checked his emails, text messages and voicemails to find out if someone else is getting some. Then how about those credit card receipts stuffed in the garbage and don't forget the snail mail, please.

When you women are done laughing, crying and reaching for the snickers, titter and tear it up some more by picking up Forbes writer Kiri Blakeley’s Can’t Think Straight, A Memoir of Mixed Up Love (Citadel Press, 325 pages). And get some extra chocolates. Blakeley’s raw, heartbreaking, but in the end, upbeat story will feel like your own, even if it's not entirely appropriate to your life at this moment. Imagine waking up one glorious sunny morning to find out the fella you’ve adored for the past ten years and are preparing to marry is not only gay, but has been fooling around behind you with his spineless back. What can you compete with? And why would you want to? Guys beware, maybe you should read this too, you know, just in case.

Okay, so the book can be a bit rough. But really, how the heck can one tell a story of getting back into the New York City (really it could be Anywhere, USA) dating scene at the ripe old age of thirty-six, when your trust in men is zip, and for good reason! But somehow you still want to be desired by that one special guy. Come on, tell me you’ve never heard the words spelled out line after line in the female guide to getting a life. Page after page easily tells a Sex In The City experience in trudging along to find love, companionship and a good orgasm.

I commend Kiri Blakeley for having the guts to put it all out there, and not just for those very few men in the book, but for us too. After you stay up all night to do some required Blakeley Can’t Think Straight, A Memoir of Mixed-Up Love reading, and you still can’t get enough of her thoughts, don’t just sit around and wait for her next book.
